As an Electrical Engineer - Clean Energy, you'll focus on supporting all aspects of electrical design on Dynapower's Clean Energy suite of product lines and custom projects (such as energy storage systems), with additional support for R&D and our Military Defense product line. You'll be responsible for the electrical design, simulation, and validation of 50 kW to 3 MW scale grid-tied inverters, other power conversion equipment, and power systems controls. On an average day, you'll: 

• Use AutoCAD Electrical to create schematics for new products
• Design and draft entry-level circuit boards using OrCAD Capture
• Specify and select the needed electrical components for your designs - Switchgear, Fuses, Sensors, Switching Semiconductors, Interface Circuitry, Wiring Harnesses, Circuit boards, Control Panel components
• Work closely with Mechanical Engineering to support the product design and manufacturing drawings
• Create Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) plans to enhance the prove-out portion of product testing 
• Prepare engineering calculations, estimates, statistics, and minor designs
• Assist in technical writings such as manuals and white papers
• Investigate and analyze new materials, equipment, and engineering practices

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Min. 5 years of experience designing or troubleshooting power conversion or inverter equipment
• Experience using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical

Preferred

• Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• LabVIEW experience (ideally on a NI - National Instruments platform)
• Experience with LabVIEW real-time stand-alone controllers; incl. programming and implementation of graphical user interface/s and digital communication automation; as well as basics of networking hardware setup, infrastructure and security
• Industrial hardware communication protocol knowledge and implementation within LabVIEW of Modbus-TCP and CANbus
• Experience with IEEE 2030.5 implementation, Sunspec and/or MESA Modbus-TCP implementation
• Experience with control of power converter or energy storage assets

This is a full-time exempt position, Monday through Friday. It is based in South Burlington, VT but is eligible for hybrid or fully remote work. The position operates in both a professional office environment and manufacturing environment. Up to 10% domestic, overnight travel to manufacturing plants for observation, research or customer visits is required. Periodic international travel may be required.
