As a Dynapower Field Service Technician, you know all about how to take care of our products (e.g. chopper and thyristor rectifiers, as well as DC/DC converters, inverters, and battery energy storage systems) and support our Aftermarket Services group by providing on-site service to our customers through hands-on technical assistance, telephone support, factory training support and liaison from customer to the factory. This role is travel-heavy (75-80%, within an assigned area) and the ideal candidate is located near a large transportation hub such as St. Louis MO, Atlanta GA, San Francisco CA, Philadelphia PA, and Washington DC.

  • Analyze and service industrial and energy storage equipment in the field across the country.
  • Onsite Commissioning of new, refurbished and repaired industrial power supplies and energy storage systems, preventative maintenance, and support integration with customer controls.
  • Works independently under the guidance of Engineering, Technical Support, and/or other Field Service Technicians.
  • Write detailed technical service reports for preventative and corrective service rendered with recommendations as needed to maximize system uptime.
  • Provide recommendations regarding which products or services best fit the customers' needs.
  • Identify areas for product improvement.
  • Provide training on product maintenance.
  • Perform a variety of tasks with a certain degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Perform minor engineering changes.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite particularly but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures required to service energy storage and power conversion equipment.
  • Familiar with various forms of communication protocol, i.e. Modbus, CAN, RS232, RS485
  • Excellent comprehension of single line drawings and basic electronics. 
  • Basic knowledge of low voltage (0-600Vac) control circuits.
  • Knowledge of high voltage battery storage systems. 
  • Must have a working knowledge of single and 3-phase power systems and a working knowledge power conversion topology.
  • Board level electronic component understanding helpful, not required.
  • Knowledge of metal finishing, Industrial power system, Electro Chemical processes helpful, but not required.

What You Need To Apply

  • 2-year Electrical/Electronic technical degree or the equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of current experience in the power electronic conversion field or in related area.
  • 3-5 years of current field service experience.
  • Experience required in the use of basic mechanical hand tools and electrical test equipment used for maintenance and measurement of line frequency power circuits (i.e. DVM, current measurement of AC and DC circuits, oscilloscope, power analyzers, and energy measurement equipment).
  • Experience with medium voltage power system is helpful.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass required US Government background screenings.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position routinely requires off schedule hours and weekend work due to Field Service support globally. Travel is primarily 75-80% of the job with a primary focus in the assigned region of the U.S. International travel is possible, although unlikely, and may be offered based on customer and staffing demands, but this only occurs on rare occasions.


This job is in an array of different environments and locations. Primarily in outdoor environments. Some work is inside an industrial facility. Working around low, medium and high AC and DC voltages.  This role routinely uses standard personal protective equipment such as required Safety Glasses and Safety shoes as well as hearing protection and gloves, as required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. This position is very active and requires prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds, push/pull carts with up to 200 pounds and pinch/grip often. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Authorization

This position may involve access to ITAR (International Traffic and Arms Regulations)-controlled information, requiring verification of US-immigration status which is used solely for determining applicable ITAR licensing requirements. In addition, Dynapower uses E-Verify to confirm work authorization status for all new hires.
