    This position is responsible for the mechanical design of Dynapower’s energy storage products and will join a dynamic team on the forefront of the energy storage market.  This position will participate in setting the product strategy and new product introductions for the energy storage market.  

    Essential Functions

    Essential Functions

    • Work cross functionally with other groups to collaborate on new power electronic product design for the energy storage market.
    • Work with the marketing, sales, procurement, and engineering teams to design products on price and performance.
    • Excellent English language skills, both written and orally.
    • Collaboration with engineering and supply chain teams to deliver quick time-to-market products.
    • Support product launches working with marketing, management, and other product team members.
    • Microsoft suite of PC programs is a requirement.

    Minimum Job Requirements

    Required Experience

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience working for an electrical equipment manufacturer – preferably in the power electronics and renewable energy industry.
    • 2-5 years in a product design role – proven track record of successful deployment of manufactured product.
    • Experience with Solidworks 3D modeling software required.
    • Keen understanding of design practices and requirements relating to outdoor installation and operation of electrical equipment in environmentally diverse conditions.
    • Interpret electrical schematics to verify proper connections and power flow layouts are mapped to the efficient mechanical design of the products.
    • The ability to perform well in a team environment while navigating through multiple parallel projects and corresponding due dates is required.
    • Work closely with production team to increase manufacturability and improve efficiency of existing product lines.

    Preferred Experience

    • 5 years of experience in power electronics equipment industry.
    • Basic working knowledge of electrical power engineering – three-phase power, rectifiers, inverters, transformers and electronic control systems is desired.
    • An understanding of product life cycle.
    • Experience working with contract manufacturers.
    • Experience with thermal modeling of electrical equipment.
    • Experience with Solidworks EPDM or comparable Product Data Management system.
    • Formal training or hand-on experience in design techniques such as Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT).

    Education

    Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required. 
    Advanced degree, such as a Masters in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

    Work Environment & Physical Requirements

    Work Environment
    This position is based in South Burlington, VT.  The position operates in a professional office environment. Regular trips to manufacturing plants for observation, research or customer visits are likely to be required.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
    This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. This position requires periodic evening and weekend work.
     
    Travel
    Periodic travel may be required.
     
    Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)
    This position may involve access to ITAR (International Traffic and Arms Regulations)-controlled information, requiring verification of US-immigration status which is used solely for determining applicable ITAR licensing requirements
